Speaking A dynamic, engaging and entertaining speaker who speaks from a lifetime of leadership. A veteran of numerous speaking engagements to diverse groups about leadership and motivational subjects including, to name a few, American Society of Naval Engineers, Naval Academy Senior Midshipmen Ethics and Leadership Course, Deploying Naval Aircraft Squadrons, High School Assemblies, Financial Advisor Investor Group, Kiwanis Club, Executive Leadership of regional Realtor Association. Adept in speaking about leading and energizing small and large groups of different/varied racial, gender, age and religious natures in stressful situations.
Leadership As a former mentor for the Small Business Administration, he has worked in the SCORE program with small business owners to improve their leadership skills in driving winning performance in their organizations. As Deputy Commander-in-Chief US Naval Forces, Europe, he directed the leadership and management effort for 22,000 personnel, seven naval bases, 20 ships and a $300 million budget including all aspects of base and port security. As U.S.S Theodore Roosevelt Commanding Officer, he planned and managed a nuclear aircraft carrier five-month maintenance overhaul for a crew of over 3,000 that completed five days ahead of schedule and 3% under cost.
Team Building While Director of Warfare Requirements and Readiness for the Navy’s Atlantic Fleet, built and led the diverse team that did a complete functional analysis of individual unit readiness reporting and initiated changes that led to a 20% decrease in the error rate of Fleet war fighting readiness reports. With accurate metrics, Fleet readiness was improved across the board.
Budget Execution Exceeded all material and operational requirements while holding to annual budget for an aircraft squadron ($8M), an amphibious assault ship ($15M), a nuclear aircraft carrier ($19M) and a Naval Component Command ($300M) with complete fiscal planning and executive authority. Managed within budget the New Business monies of $70 million in IDS’s Future Naval Capability (FNC) business area for seven major programs.
Analysis Conducted comprehensive analysis of port security requirements and procedures following attack on U.S.S. Cole. Implementing the procedures required liaison with governments in which ports were located regarding armed guards, types of weapons and roving security patrols by altering host nation agreements with the U.S. Navy.
As the U.S. and NATO military commander in Iceland, analyzed and developed future defense needs and infrastructure requirements for the Iceland Defense Force including cost tradeoffs, basing alternatives and cost sharing initiatives with the government. As Raytheon IBDE, led planning and analysis team responsible for the IDS five-year plan for foreign business efforts to produce a consistent and coherent international business strategy.

Responsible for leading the business development team keep sold results for a new Raytheon IDS Future Naval Capabilities (FNC) business sector with bookings of $6.1 billion and sales of $5.8 billion projected in the five-year plan. As IBDE, responsible for the IDS international business strategy formulation and driving the execution of new business pursuits while leading a diverse group of business developers.
Corporate Director, Naval Aviation Programs 2001-2004 Lockheed Martin Corporate Director of BD for all Naval Aviation programs. Directed the Corporate BD team responsible for business development and keep sold efforts for the $300 billion JSF Program.

Responsible for the operational readiness and training of the 22,000 Navy personnel and forces assigned in the European/African Theater with a $300 million budget. Leadership and management oversight for seven naval bases and 20 ships. Led the group doing the planning, analysis and execution of nuclear carrier port visits in the NAVEUR Area.
